> [!Tip] Flamewind > ![[Flamewind.jpg|300]] > --- > **Species:** Gynosphinx > **Role:** Oracle > **Affiliation:** Morgrave University ## Profile Flamewind is a gynosphinx with oracular powers who resides at Morgrave University. Her body is that of a great winged lion, black as midnight, rippled through with stripes of burning orange that flicker like living flame. Black falcon-wings fold against her flanks. Her face is elven — high cheekbones, sharp angles, unmistakably feline — framed by hair that flows like black smoke threaded with fire. Golden eyes regard visitors with ancient patience. Platinum and gold chains drape across her neck and forearms as adornment. A silver diadem set with a gem that catches starlight even indoors rests on her brow. She was discovered in the ruins of an ancient giant city in Xen'drik by the Carradan Party in 996 YK. She had been expecting them, waiting to be taken to Khorvaire. She has since made her home in the Astral Conservatory atop Lareth Hall, where she tends impossible flora and receives visitors connected to her visions. ## Reputation Mysterious and respected within Morgrave. Students give the conservatory a wide berth. Faculty defer to her without fully understanding what she is or what she knows. She has extensively studied the Draconic Prophecy and is considered an authority on planar phenomena, though she shares her knowledge selectively and cryptically. ## Relationship to the Party Flamewind summoned the party to the Astral Conservatory through a psychic pull channeled via the Wyrmling Tree. She confirmed that planar boundaries are weakening at an unprecedented rate and that the schema is one piece of something larger. She spoke to [[Cheeto]] directly about a weapon and a smith. She communicates not through speech but through words that appear in the mind — intimate, not invasive, like recalling something forgotten. She treats the party as expected visitors, not strangers. "You have been long expected." ## Known Traits - Communicates telepathically — words feel *remembered*, not heard - Cryptic but not evasive — she answers, just not directly - Tends the conservatory's impossible flora with surprising gentleness - Moves in total silence - "Prophecy is not a map. It is a weather report."
